A pulmonary function test (PFT) is a non-invasive breathing test that measures how well your lungs work. It assesses lung capacity, airflow, and gas exchange. Results help diagnose and monitor respiratory conditions including COPD, asthma, pulmonary fibrosis, interstitial lung disease, and other breathing disorders. All tests are performed to ATS (American Thoracic Society) standards using industry-standard spirometers.

No. Pulmonary function tests are safe, non-invasive, and require only breathing into a mouthpiece. Most patients find the process comfortable.
Avoid smoking for 4 hours before the test. Withhold certain inhalers as instructed by your doctor. Avoid heavy meals, caffeine, and strenuous exercise before the test. Wear loose, comfortable clothing.
